Students going abroad for higher studies is not new and we have been seeing the trend for a very long time. Besides pursuing their studies, international students also get into some or the other jobs to make ends meet. Now a big change was made to the policy.

It is known that Canada is among the preferred destinations of Indian students. Slowly the numbers are picking up. However, the working hours of international students were brought down and the students can work for just 24 hours a week.

A temporary policy was followed which allows international students to work over 20 hours a week off campus. The policy ended on April 30. Many felt that the policy might be extended. But the administration had other plans.

Instead of extending, the administration changed the policy allowing students to work for only 24 hours a week off campus. With this, the students can focus on their academics rather than their jobs and earning money.

It is said that the students are focusing more on doing jobs with more working hours options. To stop this, a new policy was brought which helps international students to focus on academics.

Some students will get a break from academics as part of the academic structure there. Till the classes start they can go to work for more hours. Once the academics start they should stick to the permitted working hours.

In many countries, there is a cap on the working hours for international students. It looks like Canada also joined the row. A recent study found that students who are working for over 28 hours a week have a fall in their studies while some of them are even dropping out.
