What is happening to the money that is being seized during the election time? Every election, huge amounts are seized. But, what happens to the amount is not known. During 2009 elections, a total of 2472 cases were booked. Of these, penalties were imposed in only 298 cases. Even the penalties were were minimal. In 194 cases, the issues were solved through the Lok Adalat. As many as 1980 cases are still pending.

During 2014 elections, Rs 334 crore were seized across the country, of which Rs 151 crore were from Andhra Pradesh only. In both the Telugu states, as many as 9867 cases were booked. The probe into all these cases has not made any progress. Interestingly 2 lakh litres of liquor was seized. No one knows what happened to it. There were over 1199 poll code violation cases and 543 cash seizue cases. No action has been taken in these cases also. If no action is taken, what is the use of all these seizures and cases, ask some civil society activists.

NGO Forum for Good Governance has submitted detailed reports about the cases, but no action has been taken so far. So, what will happen to the money and the liquor seized this elections in Telangana?
