TDP Begins Operation Nandyal In Telangana
X
Is the TDP putting into practice it's hugely famed and highly successful Nandyal formula to win Telangana for Maha Kutami? Highly placed sources say that it appears that the TDP is unzipping its money bags to buy votes. During last year's Nandyal byelections, which the TDP took very prestigiously, the TDP has offered anything between Rs 4000 and Rs 6000 for one vote. The opposition YSRCP could not match the TDP in buying votes. For this the TDP adopted a unique practice. It gave the voter slip and a Rs 10 or Rs 20 note to the voters. The voters can exchange this for Rs 2000 to Rs 4000 at selected outlets.

The amount was decided on the basis of the number series of the Rs 10 note. This model was first used in Tamil Nadu's RK Nagar bypolls and was later put into practice in Nandyal bypoll. In the RK Nagar bypolls, Sasikala's relative Dinakaran adopted this model. Now, the TRS is worried that despite all the resources at its command, it may not be able to match Chandrababu's tactics. Already, the Congress and other Maha Kutami leaders have lodged pre-emptive complaints against the TRS candidates and activists to keep them tied up. Sources say that in lieu of money, the candidates are planning to distribute home appliances, ornaments, cricket kits, mobile phones and costly liquor to the voters on production of a specially designed receipt at selected shops.
