BJP's New Dilemma

The BJP is faced with a new kind of dilemma - whether to support prof. Kodandaram or not? With Prof. Kodandaram indicating that he is ready to contest the MLC graduate constituency elections, the party is in a dilemma.
Several leaders in the BJP want to contest the MLC election. N Ramachandra Rao is already a sitting MLC and wants to have a go at it again. He has already begun the groundwork for his re-election. He has activated his workers and supporters in a big way. Sources say that his re-election could be an easy affair given the fact that there are no major candidates.
But, with Prof. Kodandaram throwing in his towel and approaching the BJP with a request to support him, there is a dilemma in the BJP - whether to support him or to have its own candidate. The BJP feels that there is no point in leaving the seat for Prof Kodandaram when it stands a fair chance of winning the election on its own. After all, Ramachandra Rao had fought the election alone and won.
There is a strong section within the party that feels that the BJP should not forego its option to contest the MLC election. After all, Kodandaram belongs to Leftist ideology and is diametrically opposed to the BJP’s ideology. Then, why support him, they ask. Soon, the party leadership will soon take a decision on the issue.
