Will Batukamma Fete Regain Its Verve This Year?

Where is Telangana Jagruthi? This organization, run by KCR's daughter Kalwakuntla Kavitha, was very active during the Telangana agitation. The organization created lot of awareness about the Batukamma festival. In fact, its founder-leader Kavitha Kalwakuntla became synonymous with Batukamma , which usually coincides with the Dasara festivities.

But, the celebrations lost their sheen with they could not be held in 2018 due to election season. In 2019, she suffered a shock defeat in Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency and went into a sort of hibernation. She became inactive and was not seen anywhere. But, now that she is all set to enter the legislative council as an MLC from the local body constituency in Nizamabad, she has become active again.

If sources are to be believed, the Batukamma festival would be celebrated in a big way this year. Despite Corona, the programmes would be celebrated with pomp and gaiety. Sources say that Kavitha will personally lead the celebrations. She is already busy with rescuing the NRI stuck in the Gulf. She is responding even to tweets and is initiating action to bring them back.

So, an active Kavitha means a lively Batukamma. So expect lot of colourful celebrations during this Batukamma season.
