Marking the very first day of 'Unlock-2', India reported 18,653 fresh infections in the past 24 and the total cases in the country mounted to 5,85,493. The rise of fatalities is increasing many fears and concerns.

India reported the highest spike of fatalities in a single day with 507 in the past 24 hours and the total casualties in connection with the ongoing pandemic reached to 17,400

On a brighter note, 3,47,978 patients have recovered from the respiratory disease so far with a recovery rate of 59.43%. The active cases in the country stood at 2,20,114.

Ever since Unlock-1 was introduced in India from June 1, the positive cases increased rapidly with more relaxations given by the Centre. However, PM Modi who addressed the nation the other day stated that India is in a better position compared to other counties.

Looking at the global scenario, the total infection surpassed the 1 crore-mark and stood at 1,05,86,381 and the fatalities stood at 5,13,925. The worldwide active cases and recovery cases stood at 42,76,558 and 57,95,898 respectively.

The US which is the worst-hit nation in the country currently has 14,54,397 active cases, followed by Brazil with 5,58,789 cases. Russia and India are in teh next place in the list of worst-affected nations.
