The Kollapur assembly constituency continues to be a pinprick for Chief Minister KCR. The internal squabbles in the TRS have become a cause for worry for him. The fight for supremacy between former minister and TRS strongman Jupalli Krishna Rao and sitting MLA Harshavardhan Reddy continues to simmer despite many attempts to set the things in order.

Jupally was the uncrowned king of Kollapur till 2019 elections, when he lost to Harshavardhan Reddy of the Congress. Soon after winning, Reddy joined the TRS. This has suddenly made Jupalli vulnerable. Ever since, a battle of one-upmanship is on in Kollapur. Finding his ground slipping from under his feet, Jupalli had put up his supporters and got a majority of them elected in the recent municipal elections. Even after this, the battle for supremacy is going on unabated.

Due to this tussle, the leaders and cadre at the grassroots is suffering heavily. They are under pressure from both the leaders. Both Jupalli and Harshavardhan Reddy are trying to bring pressure on the ground-level cadre to be with them. It has been very competitive in Kollapur. Unable to bear pressures, Jupalli supporter and Koderu MPP Radha has resigned from the party. Similarly, Kollapur MPP Sudharani, a known supporter of MLA Harshavardhan has also resigned from the party.
