Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi has been wheelchair-bound for the past 14 Years. It was this specially designed equipment which has been the Best Partner for Kalaignar during the period when he is suffering from age-related issues. The wheelchair is on a pause mode even since the demise of the five-time CM.
Way back in 2004, Karunanidhi underwent a spinal cord surgery but it didn't turnout to be successful. He used to suffer a lot even to stand up and move during that phase. That's when Sathya Sai baba suggested Karunanidhi to prefer a customized wheelchair and specially-designed van equipped with hydraulic mechanism for lifting the wheelchair in & out of the vehicle to travel anywhere. DMK Supremo didn't wait any longer to import them for his convenience. That's the importance of wheelchair in the life of Karunanidhi!
