The inauguration of Sardar Sarovar Dam is going to happen 56 years after the foundation stone was laid by India's First Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in Kevadia of Narmada District, Gujarat. On the eve of his birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating India's biggest & World's second biggest dam on September 17th. He will be dedicating the dam to the Nation after the opening of 30 Gates.

Sardar Sarovar Dam have a storage capacity of 4.73 million cubic metres (MCM) and the height of the dam is about 138 metres. Drinking Water will be provided to 131 urban areas and 9,633 villages.
