Farmers of Kurnool District protested the manner in which Rayalseema Region has been neglected for decades in a novel manner. Cheques of 68 paisa were sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the eve of his 68th birthday (September 17th).

Rayalaseema Saguneeti Sadhana Samithi (RSSS) has collected thousands of cheques from Farmers of the region to present them to the Prime Minister. 'Lack of necessary irrigation facilities and biased water allocation is the reason behind the drought situation in Rayalseema. Although the AP Reogranisation Act 2014 recommends allocation of funds and increasing water share for backward region, They haven't been implemented. What about the Railway Zone at Guntakal, Steel Plant at Kadapa, Agricultural University and other Institutions proposed in the Act?,' questioned RSS President B Dasarah Reddy.

Centre has been offering Special Development Package such as Bundelkhand Special Package in Madhya Pradesh and Koraput-Bolangir-Kalahand Special Plan in Odisha. Why such a Package was denied for a backward region like Rayalseema?
