There is a talk in the industry that producers who also exhibit movies don't give enough money to the distributors. But experts say that the loopholes in the distribution system is the main reason for the heavy losses in Tollywood. Other industries including Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam industries are making necessary changes in this distribution system but not in Telugu.
The problem arrives when producer quotes a certain price for the film to get profits but the distributors buy that film for bigger prices due to the competition with others. This is often seen in the case of star hero films and if the film becomes a hit, the distributors will get minimum profits as they bought it for higher rates. If the film fails, things turn out very badly as they face huge losses.
But trusted sources say that all this trade is confined on paper and the distributors only give seventy percent of the agreed amount to the producer and promise to give the rest after the release which doesn't happen most of the times. Sometimes, a few distributors pose various reasons are project hit film as a failure and take away the rest of the money assured to the producers says the reports. To put an end to all this, experts say that the system needs to be changed.
