YSR Congress MPs submitted resignations in Speaker's format soon after the adjournment of the Budget Session in protest against denial of Special Category Status. Whereas, Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan hasn't approved the resignations so far.

More than 20 YCP MLAs were lured by Ruling TDP in the past two years. Four of them have been offered Ministerial Berths as well. AP Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad Rao is yet to disqualify any of these Legislators.

In the same manner, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has been refraining from accepting the resignations of Five YCP MPs. She convened a meeting with YSRC MPs recently to know what prompted them to resign. She delayed her decision on the resignations till June first week.

There is a possibility of accepting the resignations after June 5th to prevent by-elections from happening. As per the norms, There willn't be by-election if resignations were accepted in the last one year of the full term. By June 4th, NDA Government will complete 4 years. If Speaker accepts the resignation after that date, By-elections won't be conducted in the constituencies represented by YCP MP. If at all by-polls happen, There is every possibility of results reflecting the anti-Modi wave in AP. So, BJP Leadership choose this path to avoid embarrassment.
