Despite Fleeing Migrants, More Labourers Land In Hyderabad
X
While on one hand, migrant labourers are going back in hordes to their home states, another set of the migrant labourers are heading for Hyderabad on the other hand. These people are coming to Hyderabad in special trains. Not just that, they were being welcomed at the railway station in Hyderabad.

Sounds strange but true. Even as migrant labourers from AP and Telangana are going back to their states in the trains provided by the government, new set of labourers are landing in Hyderabad. They are all migrant labourers who work in the rice mills across the state. These labourers have been working in he rice mills for quite a few years and take up tasks like lifting of bags, packing the milled rice into bags, winnowing and mill operations. They had gone home after Holi festival and are returning now. Rice Millers Association sources say that Telangana alone needs around 20000 workers during the season. As of now, 500 workers have come and they have been sent to the rice mills. Many more are expected.

Officials say that this is an annual affair and that the labourers come during the season and leave after milling is over. The local rice millers take care of the migrant labourers by providing them with food and housing.
