NGOs are said to be the foundation of public health system in India. In the past, NGOs had stood with the people in fighting pandemic like Malaria and others.

But in case of the deadly COVID-19, we are unable to see such a response from the NGOs. Maybe this is the reason, Niti Aayog recently asked the NGOs to take part in fighting the virus.

Organizations such as the Youth Feed India Program, and the Refugee Service Code, which are based in Hyderabad under the MCKS Food for the Hungry Foundation Code and Safa Organization in Delhi, are only restricted to the food distribution works.

In 2017, the Modi Government had introduced the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act to curb foreign donations to NGOs in the country. With this, nearly 20,000 NGO organisation licenses are cancelled.

The Christian charity, Compassion International, which is based in Colorado gets the whooping amount of 45 Million dollars yearly. Donations are mostly given to the NGO's which works for the children of marginalized who are living in poverty.
