In India, river water has become a huge problem and cause for many wars among the states.

Karnataka especially as become the centre of all the issues with Cauvery, Mahadayi and Krishna river water sharing.

Karnataka is covered with dry and high lands and the state has been trying get more land under cultivation and in process, has been increasing the share of their water allotment by building reservoirs and dams of high capacity.

Farmers of Karnataka have taken a issue with whoever says the water needs to distributed uniformly. While cities like Bangaluru are under severe water crisis even Cauvery river basin areas in Tamil Nadu, have been facing many issues.

Tamil Nadu farmers' have been protesting from an year in Delhi about the issue. Rajnikanth today, asked Central Government to react immediately beyond politics and set up Cauvery River Water Management Board.

As there are elections in Karnataka and setting up such a board will be a huge trouble for the party, BJP is maintaining a strategical silence on this issue.

Supreme Court gave a directive to Central Government to set up CMB, in 6 weeks on 16 February 2018.

On 29th March, 2018, the 6 weeks timeline is over and hence Rajnikanth asked for it. Kamal Haasan his friend and possible political foe, Makkal Needhi Maim, president, welcomed his request and demanded centre to respond immediately.

AIADMK MP, Navaneetha Krishnan, raising up this issue said he would commit suicide if centre doesn't act promptly and rival DMK MP, Kanimozhi welcomed his stance and asked Central Government to think about Tamil Nadu farmers'.
