No Meter Reading This Month, But Pay Your Power Bills

Will power bills be issued in Telangana this month without undertaking the customary meter reading? A decision to this effect has reportedly been taken by the DISCOMs. In view of the Corona, the officials feel that it would not be possible to take meter readings. So, bills would be issued on the basis of the average of the past bills.
So, the power bills for the month of March would be issued on the basis of the average of the past few months. The bills would be arbitrary and the difference would be adjusted later. A high-level meeting of the power department officials was held on Thursday and this issue was discussed in detail. The Discoms would soon write to the Government seeking to use this new method of computing the power bill. An official notification is expected on Friday.
According to the Genco and Transco officials, the customers could pay their power bills online. They said since the power bills cannot be paid at the Genco offices due to lockdown and quarantine process, the consumers can pay the bills using the online mode.
