Sops Season In AP As Babu Showers Largesse On Everyone

It's sops season in Telugu states, especially in Andhra Pradesh. Every woman in the state is getting Rs 2000 as a part payment of the promised Rs 10000. Every senior citizen's pension has been doubled. Ditto with the unemployed youth. Almost every caste has a corporation. It's as if Chandrababu is emptying the whole exchequer to win the elections.
From what we know, this is not going to stop. Even the employees are going to get sops before the poll code comes into force. They could get pay revision arrears now. In fact pay revision and interim relief are long overdue and the TDP now wants to use it as a sop to lure the employees and announce both in one go. The employees are hoping that the interim relief could be around 15 to 20 per cent. The final benefit would be around 30 per cent.
But, the condition of the state exchequer is dire and the state government has to scratch from the bottom to implement these things. Sources say the government might link up the interim relief with the salaries of either April or May months. In fact, Chandrababu has implemented the DR adjustment for the pensioners in he same way. If the TDP returns, the party has to worry about implementing it. If some other party wins, then it would be their funeral.
