The 1000-Crore Mahabharat Lands In Legal Trouble!

Mahabharat has been adapted by many writers into different screenplays and stories. Many films have been made as well in different languages.
A huge film with 1000 crores budget has been announced one year ago with Billionaire, BR Shetty as producer and VA Shrikumar Menon as director.
MT Vasudev Nair who wrote novel Rendamoozham, adapted it into a screenplay for the film. He sold the rights for 3 years to BR Shetty and Shrikumar Menon.
Shrikumar got busy with Mohan Lal's Odiyan in Malayalam and the movie that was planned to start in September, 2018 still did not go into pre-production as well.
So, the writer came out asking for his script back. Shrikumar issued a detailed explanation that he wants to start work on Mahabharat soon and Mohan Lal is also ready.
But the writer is not believing them. He filed a case in the court asking his script back. Mohan Lal said that he is waiting for a confirmation from producers and will give them dates whenever they want.
The matter is in court but the producer and director are trying for an amicable settlement with the writer. We have to wait and see, what will happen to the project next!
