After a volunteer developed some symptoms of the illness, the clinical trial of the vaccine developed by the AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford was halted.

A Woman volunteer who received a dose of the vaccine developed an illness. However, there is no official information on the kind of illness, whether it's vaccine-related or neurological-related.

Talking about the same, the World Health Organization's (WHO) chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan, who addressed the virtual press briefing at the WHO headquarters, Geneva, termed the development as a "wake-up call"

The Chief Scientist maintained that there will be ups and downs in the clinical developments and the researchers should not get discouraged by this.

Soumya Swaminathan went on to say that these sorts of things happen and we should not get discouraged but we have to be prepared.

Globally, 28,313,390 patients were diagnosed with respiratory disease and 913,090 patients succumbed to the disease. United States, India, and Brazil are the top three worst-affected nations globally.
