Yeddiyurappa Has His Way, Reins In High Command

After snubbing him during the selection of candidates for Rajya Sabha, the BJP national leadership has allowed Karnataka CM Yeddiyurappa to have his way in the selection of the MLC candidates. Four of the three candidates chosen are those whose names have been recommended by Yeddiyurappa.
Interestingly, all these candidates , namely Pratap Simha Nayak, MTB Nagaraj, R Shankar and Sunil Valyapure, are Yeddiyurappa's men and except Nayak, all others are those had resigned from the Congress Party to support him. Yeddiyurapa had promised them MLC posts. Another interesting fact is that all the three are Kurubas, which is former Congress CM Siddaramaiah's caste. There were doubts that too many Kurubas as MLCs would send wrong signals to other communities. But, finally Yeddiyurappa prevailed on the party leadership.
Yeddiyurappa supporters see this as his victory. They feel that this consolation was much needed after the national leadership's decision to overturn the Chief Minister’s choices for the Rajya Sabha.
