Dubbak Bypoll Gets Interesting

Dubbak bypolls are turning out to be quite an interesting contest. Unlike earlier elections, where bypolls caused by the sudden death of the sitting MLA used to be nominal affairs or no contests, this time around all major political parties want to contest the elections. The BJP and the Congress are trying to put up strong candidates to give a tough fight to the ruling TRS.
The opposition feels that there should be no walkover for the TRS this time. They want to put up a decent fight and show how unpopular the TRS is among the people. These parties feel that the people are fed up with the TRS government and would vote for them. Hence the Congress is planning to ensure that someone of the standing of Vijayasanthi should contest the elections. The BJP has already decided to have Raghunandan Rao as its candidate.
But, the biggest worry for the TRS is the internal dissidence within the party. Several key TRS leaders have also made it clear that they would not support anyone from Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy's family. Solipeta was the sitting MLA and he passed away recently due to prolonged illness. His death has necessitated this election. But, local TRS leaders, opposed to Ramalinga Reddy, feel that his family members should not be given the ticket to contest the elections. The TRS candidate should be from outside Solipeta family, they argue.
The TRS leadership is now trying to convince the local cadre to support the official candidate and indicated that he could be from the Solipeta family. This has made the contest all the more interesting.
