In the wake of the raging disputes between the Telugu States, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, the Andhra Pradesh government has written a letter to the Krishna River board.

Some media reports claim that, in the letter, the Andhra Pradesh government asked the Krishna River board to allocate water for the Pothireddypadu and Handri-Neeva projects.

The state government asked the river board to allocate 71 TMCs of water in addition to the 9 TMCs and 8 TMCs that were allocated to Pothireddypadu and Handri-Neeva projects respectively.

The issues of water sharing erupted after Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh on June 2nd way back in 2014. With the disputes escalating quickly, the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) stepped and revealed the details of the water used by both the states.

During the water sharing year that starts on June 1st and ends on May 31st, the Srisailam project received heavy inflows as the project received an inflow of 1,782 TMCs.

The Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) said Andhra Pradesh has utilized 220.329 TMCs of water for various projects and drinking water purposes in the state.
