In a shocking incident, a local TRS leader was axed to death outside his home in Nizamabad's Navipet. The locals and relatives of the slain leader suspect that his estranged wife, who is living separately for the past eight years, could be behind the deadly attack.

According to the police, Ramana Reddy of Navipet was attacked even as he entered him home after he visited a temple. Before he could close the gates, the assailants pounced upon him and hit him on his neck with a sharp axe. Then they stabbed him indiscriminately and fled the scene before his daughter could arrive. The leader was identified as Ramana Reddy and is 54. His second daughter, who came few minutes later, found him in a pool of blood and immediately raised an alarm. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died during the treatment.

The police rushed to the spot and deployed the dog squad to nab the killers. Sources said that Ramana Reddy and his wife Naga Sulochana were living separately for the past ten years. Reddy suspected that his wife's fidelity, Despite living separately, there were issues with respect to assets and properties. Many suspect that the marital discord could have played a key role in his murder. The police are investigating.
