The CID which is investigating the irregular land sales in the Amaravati region has reportedly said that many leaders might have got benefitted financially in the land polling process in Amaravati reportedly.

It has been widely reported that the CID is looking at the records of the 4,000 acres in the region and these lands are reportedly sold at a cheaper price to some of the leaders.

"Certain highly-connected individuals procured land through illegal transactions. We are also probing on the findings that the boundary of the capital area was changed to benefit certain people who had lands on the fringes. Another aspect under probe is the fraudulent surrender of Lanka (river island), Poramboke, government lands towards LPS scheme to receive returnable plots," a close source to the CID said.

"As per records, lands were bought at nominal rates from farmers right before the notification of the capital. It was established that 2,279.91 acres were purchased in the above - mentioned mandals of Guntur district and 1,790 acres were purchased in the mandals of Krishna district," the officer investigating the case said.

The speculations of the TDP leaders indulging in land pooling are turning out to be true going by many media reports. We might get more clarity once the CIG submits its final report.
