State-Wide ACB Raids Nail Corrupt Mandarins

In a massive crackdown, the ACB conducted day-long searches across the state. Around 25 teams descended on several officials, their residences and offices in Vizianagaram, Vizag, East Godavari, Kurnool and Anantapur. Among those raided are Parvathipuram ITDA executive engineer T Mohan Rao, Kakinada municipal corporation Superintending Engineer Gandham Venkata Pallam Rao, East Godavari district employment and training wing CEO L Raghubabu, PACS staff assistant of Tamaram village in Vizag's Makavaram mandal Seeramreddy Goindu, Kurnool deputy collector (PA to special collector of the Srisailam Project Sake Satyam and their relatives and associates. The total assets without valid papers owned by these officials is said to be about Rs 11 crore. Huge amount of gold and other assets have been recovered.


The total assets beyond known sources of income of Seeram Govindu, who is just a staff assistant in a PACS are about Rs 1.75 crore. Similarly, raids were conducted on Srisailam special collector S Satyam, his brother Narayana Swamy and his relatives in both Kurnool and Anantapur and assets worth Rs 5 crore were recovered from them. The ITDA EE Mohan Rao was found to own ill-gotten assets worth Rs 10 crore .


The ACB officials said the raids would continue and the officials are being questioned. They would soon be presented in the ACB court.
