As a bid to combat the financial crisis that emerged with the ongoing pandemic, the flag carrier of Australia, Qantas Airways Limited decided to lay off as many as 6,000 employees across all the businesses.

In addition to that, the airlines will also be standing down around 15,000 employees as the flight operations were reduced since the last four months with the outbreak of the virus.

Qantas Airways Limited stated that up to 12 months, it will ground around 100 aircraft to reduce the costs. With this, Airways is expected to reduce the costs by $15 billion.

Qantas Airways re-started the domestic operations with a mere capacity of 5 percent when compared to the that of pre-pandemic scenario. The capacity will be reaching 15 percent by this week and gradually reach to 40 percent by July end.
