Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways said that the Andhra Pradesh will have 18 National Highways which were taken by the Central government and said that the project works are in progress.

Union Minister said this happy news while responding to a question raised by YSRCP Rajya Sabha member V. Vijaya sai Reddy on the status of various projects in the state.

The Union Minister went on to say that the Centre has taken 38 projects which include the two-lane highway development, connectivity, roads, overbridges along with the expansion of National Highway expansion and development.

Approximately all the projects will be costing around Rs 10,000 crores. While the National Highways Authority of India(NHAI) takes over the National Highways the remaining projects will be overseen by the PWD, which is a subsidiary of the state government.

The Union Minister went on to say that the Highway works will be completed by this year mostly. The Chilakaluripet-Nellore road will also be developed as a four-lane road and the same will also be used as an emergency landing of the aircraft.
