Following a strong Sankranti season, the Tollywood box office witnessed a significant slump in February and March. Several weeks saw a lack of big releases or underwhelming ticket sales. However, a resurgence seemed to be on the horizon with the late March release of "Tillu Square." This film not only delivered impressive weekend collections but also sustained its momentum throughout the following week.

Last week offered a glimmer of hope with the buzz surrounding "Family Star" and the translated film "Manjummal Boys" attracting audiences. While "Family Star" could have performed better with positive word-of-mouth, it still provided moviegoers with three options, leading to a lively atmosphere at theaters. Unfortunately, this week paints a different picture.

Audience interest has dwindled with the release of this week's films. The trailer for "Geethanjali Malli Vachchindi" offered little to excite viewers, resulting in sparse crowds on opening day. Negative word-of-mouth further dampens its prospects. Similarly, the straight Telugu film "Sriranga Neethulu" and the translated "Love Guru" haven't managed to capture audience attention.

While the Hindi film "Maidan" has garnered positive reviews, its reach in Telugu states remains limited. The disastrous performance of another Hindi release, "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan," further discourages audiences from venturing out to theaters. The previous week's releases, "Tillu Square" and "Manjummal Boys," may see some spillover collections this weekend, but overall, the Tollywood box office appears to be in a lull once again.
