The United States is all set to witness the first nitrogen gas execution. While this is the first nitrogen gas execution in the super power nation, the execution marks the first such execution in the world in the century. The convict in the case is a contract killer by profession.

The stage was set for the first Nitrogen Hypoxia Execution as the Supreme Court said no to cancel the orders. While refusing to stop the orders, the Supreme Court in the United States supported the verdict given by a lower court to execute him with the nitrogen gas.

Going into details, Kenneth Smith is a convict in a murder case. He was hired by Charles Sennett, a Christian minister to kill his wife. The victim was stabbed and hit with a strong object. The victim's husband plotted to kill her for the insurance money reportedly. The investigating officers unearthed crucial details and found Smith's involvement in the case.

Two people were hired for the plan. The other suspected died in the prison due to illness. Smith's execution could not take place due to various reasons. Smith was scheduled to get the lethal injection as punishment. He was miraculously saved as the doctors could not find his vein.

Later a lower court said that he can be executed with the nitrogen gas. But the suspect moved the Supreme Court. But he faced a big bolt as the majority of judges supported the judgement. The Country's top court supported the judgment given by the Alabama Court.

The punishment is given in a way that the cylinder carrying Nitrogen will be fitted with a mask and it is then tied to the person upon whom the punishment will be imposed. With the intake of nitrogen the oxygen level drops which eventually leads to death. The punishment will last a few hours.
