Like they say, a farmer's son can easily become a farmer, a doctor's son can easily become a doctor, can a director's son become a successful actor, that too, a hero?
This is a big debate question as Puri Jagannadh made, Mehbooba, with his son, Akash Puri as hero. He spent good fortune on promoting the movie and produced it all by himself.
The movie collections at the box office are not at all encouraging, even though the team going around the town to prove it as a hit, with success meets and Thank you, events.
If we dig up history, K. Raghavendra Rao's son, Prakash Kovelamudi, Dasari Narayana Rao's son, Dasari Arun Kumar, Kondandarami Reddy's son, Vaibhav Reddy, EVV Satyanarayana's son, Rajesh failed to become lead actors after a fanfare debut film.
There are few like Raviraja Pinisetty's son, Adhi Pinisetty, T. Krishna's son, Gopichand and EVV Satyanarayana's son, Allari Naresh who have become successful actors after early struggles.
Allari Naresh had to grow step by step and never got a launch like his brother Rajesh. Gopichand failed in his debut attempt, then became a news anchor and as a villain, he succeeded to later become the hero.
Adhi Pinisetty started out with Oka 'V' Chitram and went on to establish a name with Tamil dub movies and now, he is a popular second lead or villain in Telugu movies.
Vaibhav Reddy, managed to become a recognisable hero in Tamil movies but he is not as successful as his father. In fact, none of the mentioned have become as successful as their fathers.
On the other hand, we saw heroes sons like Nagarjuna, Balakrishna, Ram Charan, Jr. NTR (grandson of Sr. NTR), Mahesh Babu, Naga Chaitanya being highly successful in the business. Likewise, even producer's sons like Venkatesh, Allu Arjun, Ram Pothineni (his father is the brother of Sravanthi Ravi Kishore), Prabhas (his father Uppalapati Narayana Raju is a producer and brother of U. Krishnam Raju), Nithiin (his father Sudhacar Reddy is a producer and distributor) being highly successful too.
We have Pawan Kalyan, who is brother of Megastar Chiranjeevi and Sai Dharam Tej, Varun Tej belonging to the same Mega Family, also finding success.
Somehow, directors who designed the careers of these big actors are unable to give their sons success. Puri Jagannadh introduced Ram Charan and he even gave Industry Hits and makeovers to heroes above mentioned, when they required.
But he seems to have lost that touch today as his son, Akash Puri couldn't attract audience as much as he wanted as a father and a producer. He tried his best to make his brother, Sairam Shankar a star hero, but he did not succeed. Now, he is trying his best for Akash, let's hope he can find that magical success for his son.
