After decent entertainers like 'Prema Kavali' & 'Lovely', Aadi shifted gear and made attempts to attain a mass image with commercial potboilers. 'Garam' didn't fetch him desired result. This time, He teamed up with Director Veerabhadram Chowdary for 'Chuttalabbayi'. Is this the project Aadi has been waiting for all these years? Let's see...

Synopsis:

Babji (Aadi), a recovery agent, accidentally meets Kavya (Namitha Pramod) for two to three times. Kavya's Brother (Abhimanyu Singh) starts targeting Babji after he reaches a conclusion that his sister has been seeing him. That's when Kavya runs away from house as she don't want to marry the guy of her Brother's choice. Due to unavoidable circumstances, Babji was forced to take Kavya to his native place. While a gang tries to kill Kavya, Babji have few personal problems in his village. How the Youngster solved all the issues forms rest of the tale?

Performances:

Aadi should be appreciated for his energy levels and confidence. He, however, need to be very careful in script selection. Good Work done gets unnoticed if chosen a routine Story & when Screenplay isn't gripping enough. Even 'Chuttalabbayi' is no different in this case.

Namitha Pramod earns brownie points with her Performance. She, however, lacks the required glam quotient.

Sai Kumar does nothing special. Abhimanyu Singh irritates. John Kokken fails to impress. Pruthvi offers the much needed comic relief with his timing.

Pros:

Pruthvi's Comedy

Music

Production Values

Cons:

Routine Content

Screenplay

Direction

Technicalities:

Music by SS Thaman is an asset. Fast-beat songs were just perfect for this Mass Entertainer. Background Score is fine. Punchlines by Writer Bhavani Prasad were decent. Especially, the dialogues of Pruthvi and Shakalaka Shankar tickle the funny bone. Production Values were better than Aadi's market range. Veerabhadram played the safe game with routine subject. He succeeded in handling comedy blocks to some extent. Overall, He failed to get back his lost form.

Analysis:

'Chuttalabbayi' proves neither Aadi nor Veerabhadram learnt any lesson from past failures. They combindely serve a beaten-to-death subject. The only respite would be fact that this Entertainer is better than their last films 'Garam' & 'Bhai'.

Veerabhadram admitted 'Bhai' couldn't hit the bull's eye due to lack of comedy quotient. He, however, need to realize lack of novelty is another major reason behind the failure. In the case of 'Chuttalabbayi', He increased the comedy dose but one can't expect fresh content even in this attempt. Almost all the scenes remind us of successful films and predictable screenplay ruins the whole experience. Of course, There are few fun moments to give some relief but that's not enough to set the cash registers ringing.

Love Track of Lead Pair doesn't leave a good impression. Lack of consistency in the characterizations and poor screenplay is a worrying aspect. Pruthvi as 'Ego Reddy' is flawless. Even the comedy tracks of Posani, Raghubabu, Ali and Shakalaka Shankar are alright.

Director didn't do justice to Sai Kumar's role. Although the get-up is pretty good, That Character wasn't etched properly. Action Blocks doesn't engage the Audience. Family Drama in the Second Half wasn't up to the mark. Overall, 'Chuttalabbayi' offers nothing more than few laughs.

Bottom Line: Not A Pleasing Guest!
