Is this film a suicidal move on producers?

Well, in Telugu there is a saying about a fox trying to ape Tiger and burning it's skin. When one looks at Thenendal Studios and their lavish thoughts in promoting and marketing Sanghamithra has the next biggest film from India, we tend to feel happy and sorry for them at the same time.

While roping in giants like AR Rahman, Sabu Cyril and announcing a budget of 400 crores for two part film makes a film lovers happy, a marketing person would be scratching his or head unable to understand the business logic behind granting such huge amounts to Sundar C, who at best is regarded as a hit director in medium budget movies.

He did direct Rajni and Kamal, but he doesn't enjoy similar status like Shankar or KS Ravi Kumar even in Tamil Cinema Industry. He is the husband of yesteryear glamour queen Khushbu and has several hits like Aranmanai, Kalakkappu under his belt. But the director has been never known for his directorial brilliance like SS Rajamouli and trying to ape his vision and marketing strategy for Sanghamithra with Arya, Jayam Ravi and Shruthi Hasan, feels too outlandish.

The concept art posters released introducing the characters do look impressive but having a good artiste on board anyone can release a good poster. But it is important that the movie brings in all the moolah that producers are spending and also become the best example of inspiration like Baahubali than the other way around. We hope the producers know what they're investing on and wish Sundar C proves his talent beyond any doubt.
