A Special CBI Court Today convicted former Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda in the coal scam case. Madhu Koda, Ex-coal secretary HC Gupta, former Jharkhand chief secretary Ashok Kumar Basu and another Government Employee were found guilty of corruption and criminal conspiracy.
The Court believed these four people had favoured Vini Iron and Steel Udyog Ltd (VISUL) in the allocation of Rajhara North coal block in Jharkhand. CBI Judge Bharat Parashar will pronounce the quantum of punishment on Thursday.
Whereas, The Special CBI Court acquitted VISUL's Director Vaibhav Tulsyan, Chartered Accountant Navin Kumar Tulsyan, Two Public Servants Basant Kumar Bhattacharya and Bipin Bihari Singh of all charges.
CBI alleged Chairman of the screening committee HC Gupta had concealed facts from then PM Manmohan Singh who was handling Coal Ministry as well. It's the Screening Committee which recommended the coal block to VISUL.
