Renowned Playback Singer Sonu Nigam made sensational remarks on the Indian Music Industry. He dared to say, 'At times, I feel I would have got more offers had if I was from Pakistan'.
After being in the Industry for over two decades, Sonu Nigam feels Local Talent isn't getting due recognition or respect. He wasn't happy with the current Bollywood Music.
At the Agenda Aaj Tak summit, Sonu Nigam took potshots at the Indian Music Industry for encouraging foreigners and ignoring local talent. He seems to be unhappy over the difference in treatment offered to Indian Singers and Pakistani Singers. 'These days, Singers have to pay Music Companies for conducting shows. In case if we doesn't offer money, These Companies will play the songs sung by other Singers and highlight them. Thereafter,They would recover money from them. When it comes to Pakistani Singers, It's a completely different story altogether. Atif Aslam, who is a good friend of mine, was never asked to pay for any shows. The same happened with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan as well,' he said.
Sonu Nigam feels growing number of remixes has altered the system completely - 'In the past, Composers, Lyricists and Singers used to create a song. But now, Music Companies have taken over it'.
