Making sequels have become a trend in Bollywood long back.  There are several successful franchises like Golmaal, Hate Story, Krrish etc.  Considering the trend, popular producer Boney Kapoor planned for the sequel of 'Mr. India'(1987), a super hit film starring Anil Kapoor-Sridevi- Amrish Puri.  The movie was directed by Shekhar Kapur.

As Sridevi made her re-entry to the films, Boney planned the sequel with the same director Shekhar Kapur.  The director also agreed to take up the project.  When everything was going smooth, the sudden demise of Sridevi left Boney Kapoor in shock.  The pre-production works have been stalled and Boney is in no mood to make the sequel without Sridevi.

Boney's close friends also felt that it is not possible to recreate the magic of 'Mr. India' without Sridevi.  Responding to the 'Mr. India' sequel news, Shekhar Kapur said that he doesn't know the fate of the sequel but he felt it is not possible now.
