NTR-Sukumarrn make quite an unusual combination. While the former was known for his rnMass Entertainers, The latter have a good reputation of being expert at rnhandling Stylish & Intelligent Cinema. For the first time ever, The rnduo teamed up for a highly emotional revenge drama 'Nannaku Prematho'. rnExpectations were humongous on the project since it materialized & rnlet's see if it lived up to the hype…

Synopsis:

Afterrn losing his job, Abhiram (NTR) unites people facing hardships to form rnhis own firm 'KMC'. In the meanwhile, He comes to know about the rncondition of his ailing father (Rajendra Prasad) who won't survive for rnmore than one-and-a-half month. Abhiram takes up the mission to take rnrevenge on Krishnamurthy (Jagapathi Babu) to fulfill his father's last rnwish. What has Abhi done for it & how the mission was accomplished rnforms the rest of the tale!

Performances:

NTRrn has re-invented himself for 'Nannaku Prematho' and hats off to the rntransformation he underwent to match Sukumar's style of film making. Hisrn contribution in the confrontation scenes with Villain were praise rnworthy, particularly during the Interval Block.

Jagapathi Babu rnbreathed life into his role and proved no other actor would have rnperformed it so well. This film revealed his true potential as an actor rnand what results he can produce if given the space he deserves.

Rajendrarn Prasad have very few scenes & he does justice to the character. rnRakul Preet Singh does well and even her dubbing was alright. Rajeev rnKanakala and Srinivas Avasarala have done a good job.

Pros:

NTR's Makeover & Performance

Screenplay

Direction

Cinematography

Cons:

Lack of Mass Appeal

Technicalities:

Justrn alike any of Sukumar's previous films, 'Nannaku Prematho' is a film rnwith high technical values. Camera Work by Vijay Chakravarthy is rnmarvelous. Songs of Devi Sri Prasad were good but didn't sink well in rnthe subject. His background score is good though, especially in the rnemotional scenes. Sukumar has left a mark of his own as Director yet rnagain. Kudos to his guts for sticking to the same path even after a rndisaster and delivering a path-breaking film. Production Values have rnbeen grand.

Analysis:

Sukumarrn is undoubtedly one of the most efficient, passionate and intelligent rndirectors of TFI. At times, The vast knowledge he possess landed him in rntrouble and that's what happened in the case of his past outing '1 - rnNenokkadine'. Inspite of critical acclaim, The Mahesh-starrer failed to rnset the cash registers ringing. But, The failure didn't change Sukumar arn bit and he has gone ahead to make an intelligent yet good film like rn'Nannaku Prematho'. He, however, didn't strain the audience much with rnunexpected twists and puzzle. All he did was narrating the same old rnstory in an innovative manner and his mark is visible in every frame.

Everrn since the trailer was launched, Movie Buffs expected 'Emotion' to pay rnthe vital role in 'Nannaku Prematho'. Much to the surprise, Its rn'intelligence' which becomes the USP of this product. More than the rnemotional bond between Son-Father, The mind game between Hero & rnVillain receives maximum applause from the viewers. This is for the rnfirst time ever a filmmaker has designed the mind game between rnprotagonist & antagonist to such perfection. It gives a feeling onlyrn Suku is capable of creating such visual wonders.

Concept-based rnLove Track of Hero-Heroine was the centre of attraction in the first rnhalf of 'Nannaku Prematho'. The Hero-Villain confrontation in the rnInterval block have a 'wow' factor. Sukumar's screenplay, NTR-Jagapathi rnBabu's performance, Fabulous Dialogues and Good Music have made every rnscene look so beautiful. There is a bit of inconsistency in the latter rnhalf, but the momentum picks up in the last 30 minutes and the Climax rnwill stand out.

On the downside, Sukumar wasn't so successful inrn presenting the emotional scenes of Hero & his Father. He neither rnmade an attempt to show how Hero's Father was cheated by a ruthless rnBusinessman. Suku tried to enthrall NTR's fan base with few heroism rnelevating scenes here and there. Its too early to predict how the massesrn would receive this intelligent flick laced with emotion. One thing is rnfor sure, 'Nannaku Prematho' will get overwhelming reception is all the Arn Centres.

Bottom Line: A New Age Cinema!
