When Dadasaheb Phalke award was conferred to legendary Telugu director K.Vishwanath cine lovers across South India were delighted. But Dadasaheb Phalke award committee has shocked everybody by conferring Dadasaheb Phalke award to Bollywood heroine Priyanka Chopra now.
The committee has announced that they have constituted a new category 'Internationally Acclaimed' in Dadasaheb Phalke awards and they have conferred the first award to Priyanka. The committee members have revealed that Priyanka was honoured because she has brought international recognition to Indian artistes with her Hollywood stint with series like 'Quantico' and movies like 'Baywatch'. This development has severely upset Telugu cinema lovers.
No doubt, Priyanka Chopra is extremely talented artiste. She has proved her acting abilities with critically acclaimed films like 'Mary Kom'. But the Phalke award committe has not shown this reason for conferring award. Cine lovers consider Dadasaheb Phalke award as prestigeous one. Several netizens are criticizing the award committee that they have conferred award to a beauty who has excelled in exposing and skin show on international platforms. In other way it is an insult to the directors like K. Vishwanath. It seems that they have some logic.
