Nandi Awards have become the most controversial item ever in Telugu Cinema. Those who have received awards, they are happy to have won them while those who did not and thought some selections are wrong, came out and expressed their anguish. Along with that, few unconfirmed news reports suggest that a big influential member of film fraternity as managed from behind the scenes to change the lost of awardees to receive B.N. Reddy Award for Excellence.

B.N. Reddy is seen as the pinnacle of movie directors in Telugu Cinema as he is the man who made commercial and non-commercial films with family values and social message. Trivikram Srinivas, SS Rajamouli have been selected unanimously for this award. But Boyapati Srinu, who is more of a commercial filmmaker with action orientation got selected in the last minute as one big producer thought Sekhar Kammula is not in the range of Rajamouli and Trivikram Srinivas to receive the award along with them. He suggested and influence the jury to change this award to Boyapati Srinu. He is the man, who will be producing the director's next film.
