Legendary actor and former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao is not only a person who did so much for the common people but also made sure to keep his family first. His love for his wife Basavatarakam is well-known to everyone in that generation.
A vintage picture of NTR which is proving the same is going viral on the internet. The photo featured NTR who placed his late wife's photograph in his Puja room alongside other gods as if he was worshipping her. NTR and Basavatarakam got married when NTR was just 20 years old, in May 1942. She was the daughter of NTR's maternal uncle. The couple was blessed with eight sons and four daughters. After suffering from cancer, Basavatarakam passed away in 1985 and NTR was devastated at that time.
In the memory of his wife whom he loved unconditionally, NTR established the cancer hospital. He had even set up Smt.Nandamuri Basavataraka Rama Rao Memorial Cancer Foundation (NBTRCF). Also, the Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute was established in 2000 as a tribute to Basavatarakam.
