Once again Dil Raju teamed up with Satish Vegesna for making a traditional film. Nithin & Raashi Khanna-starrer 'Srinivasa Kalyanam' released Today. Let's see whether the content matched the tall claims of the Makers...

Synopsis:

Srinivas Raju alias Vasu (Nithin) who is a youth belonging to a joint family gives utmost importance to the traditions. He meets Sri (Raashi Khanna) accidentally and love blossoms between them. Raju comes to know that she is the daughter of billionaire RK (Prakash Raj), who have a different mindset altogether, only after falling in love. Though he accepts their Marriage, RK sets few conditions for making it happen. At the same time, Even Vasu sets a condition for Sri's Father. What are they all about? Did the marriage happen smoothly?

Performances:

Nithin did a fine job as Srinivasa Raju. Though he is just okay in the First Half, A good impression has been created by him towards the end of the movie. Raashi Khanna appears gorgeous but she didn't get much scope to leave a big impact, particularly after 'Tholi Prema'. Jayasudha used all of her experience to add depth to the story. Prakash Raj does his role effortlessly. Rajendra Prasad is alright. Sitara is okay. Neither Naresh nor Aamani have any importance what-so-ever. Nanditha Swetha was under-utilized. Praveen & Vidyulekha Raman produced few laughs.

Pros:

Family Emotions

Camera Work

Production Values

Cons:

Routine Template

Direction

Technicalities:

Music composed by Mickey J Meyer is decent. Only the Duet of Lead Pair & Marriage Song are good enough. Background Score is nice. Camera Work by Sameer Reddy is one of the highlights. The whole film is so colorful. Especially, The sequences depicting the village backdrop in the Second Half are a treat to watch. 'Srinivasa Kalyanam' have Huge Casting, Beautiful Settings and Good Locations. Dil Raju produced it in an uncompromising manner. Satish Vegesna disappointed as both writer & director. He seems to be still stuck with 'Shatamanam Bhavathi'. The same template is being used for this movie with marriage concept. Lack of enough comedy is a big concern. Focus is on sequences which attract Family Audience. The conflict point itself isn't big enough to create necessary impact.

Analysis:

Films depicting how the people have been forgetting human relations & traditions due to their busy lifestyle have become good hits when they were presented in an entertaining and enlightening manner by toning down the melodrama. There were instances of Filmmakers ending up paying the price when they get too preachy. 'Srinivasa Kalyanam' is one such classic example.

For 'Shatamanam Bhavathi', Satish Vegesna conveyed the message with ample entertainment. However, Entertainment takes a backseat in 'Srinivasa Kalyanam'. The new product is loads with elements which connect with Family Audience. Younger Generation who crave for entertainment mayn't find it pleasing as the film is more about preaching on the institution of marriage and traditions.

'Srinivasa Kalyanam' is made with good intentions & there can't be any second thoughts about it. The film highlights how marriage has become more like an event these days & Younger Generation are hardly experience the beautiful moments. Showcasing the greatness about the marriage is the priority of the Makers. The attempt could have paid off well had if an undercurrent message was delivered, instead of preaching about marriage & traditions through dialogues.

Love Story is so flat and it lacked any speciality. Of course, There are few good moments between the Lead Pair to entertain. Even the comedy of Praveen and Vidyulekha Raman is decent. Overall, First Half is passable. Lack of strong conflict point is the biggest drawback. The way First Half ends gives a clear picture of how the Second Half would be like. Too much melodrama in the climax is a let down. To sum it up, 'Srinivasa Kalyanam' have moments which will be embraced by the Family Audience.

Bottom Lime: Too Preachy!
