Katama Rayudu.. what's the real story?

'Katama Rayudu'..the title became so popular. 'Katama Rayuda.. Kadiri Narasimhuda' song from 'Attarintiki Daaredi' became so popular and it became chartbuster. Even though the song appeared out of place, Pawan's singing.. and the lyrics impressed the audience so much. Pawan has taken the 'Katama Rayudu' title from the same song.
Even though Saptagiri named their film as 'Katama Rayudu', Pawan team has requested them.. and they readily agreed to give away the title to Pawan. Surprisingly 'Katama Rayudu' title became so popular that unlike Pawan's recent film titles. But People don't know the story behind the title. Let's have a look at the story.
We all know that Lord Vishnu appears in Narasimha avatar to kill Hiranya Kashyapa. He appears from a pillar(Kambam) in Hiranya Kashyapa's court when the king breaks the pillar with anger. As Lord Vishnu appeared from Kambam.. devotees call him with the name Kamabala Rayudu. But some devotees believe that Lord Vishnu appeared from a pillar on the hill near Velagala in Kadiri, Anantapur district. There is a village with the name 'Katam' near that hill. So, people call the lord Vishnu with another name 'Katama Rayudu'.
Even famous Carnatic vocalist like Annamacharya praised the Lord calling him 'Katama Rayudaa'. Surprisingly the people in the same area also call the Lord with the name 'Bhetrayi Swami'. That's the reason why.. we find all these names in 'Kadiri Narasimhudaa.. Bhetrayi Swami devudaa..' in the lyrics of the song. Many people have the name of Katama Rayudu in Anantapur district. Pawan is using the same name now. Another interesting aspect is that the story of 'Katama Rayudu' runs in the backdrop of Anantapur.
