Tollywood Stares At Shortage Of Heroines
X
Till few years back, heroines like Kajal, Shruti Hassan, Tamanna and Samantha were ruling the roost in Tollywood while others Rakul Preet and Regina were budding stars then. With a perfect mix of star heroines and upcoming talents, the makers had lots of options to choose from. But, the scenario is completely different now.

Senior beauties like Anushka and Shriya are out of the race while Tamanna and Kajal have started fading away. Rakul Preet Singh shifted her base to Chennai and heroines like Regina and Pragya Jaiswal failed to capitalize on their initial hits. There is no buzz around them now. Though Samantha has scored a hat-trick this Summer, she didn't accept any film as yet except the remake of Kannada film 'U Turn'.

Malayali import Anu Emmanuel, who was on the verge of becoming a star heroine, got huge disasters like 'Agnyaathavaasi' and 'Naa Peru Surya'. She has no other film except Naga Chaitnya's 'Sailaja Reddy Alludu'. Though Anupama Parameswaran is acting alongside young heroes like Sai Dharam Tej and Ram, she still has a long way to get the star heroine status. Same is the position of other beauties like Nivetha Thomas, Mehreen and Rashmika Mandanna. Though Keerthy Suresh scored a blockbuster with 'Mahanati', she didn't sign any Telugu project yet and is busy with a handful of Tamil films. Amongst the younger lot, Raashi Khanna is the only one to get big breaks.

As of now, it is only Pooja Hegde who is working with star heroes like Mahesh, Tarak and Prabhas. Apart from her, Kiara Advani is working on Charan-Boyapati's film.

So, there's a severe shortage of heroines and the producers are scouring portfolios for new faces. Who will fill the vaccum?
