Naga Chaitanya has been in good form off late with back-to-back hits (Premam, Ra Randoi Veduka Chudham). 'Yuddham Sharanam' is a very special film for the Akkineni Scion as it's been directed by his close buddy Krishna Marimuthu. Sai Korrapati who carved a niche for himself with quality films is the producer of this project. Let's see what the film is all about…
Synopsis:
Arjun (Naga Chaitanya) is someone who isn't interested in 9-6 Jobs. So, He focusses on gaining expertise in Drone Technology in the process of building his future. Arjun have a beautiful family & he falls in love with Anjali (Lavanya Tripathi) who enters into his house as a Guest. Even his Family Members approve their relationship. Just when everything was going smoothly, A tragedy strikes and Arjun will get ready to chase the mystery. How did he knows the truth & what has he done to settle scores forms rest of the tale.
Performances:
Roles like these are a cakewalk for Naga Chaitanya. The look he sports in this movie looked damn good & his performance is satisfactory. Lavanya Tripathi looks gorgeous but she doesn't get much scope to perform.
Srikanth has given a sincere performance. He, however, wasn't able to create big impact as the role wasn't etched properly. Revathi & Rao Ramesh have done complete justice to their roles. The role played by Murali Sharma is funny. Priyadarsi is just okay.

Vivek Sagar of 'Pelli Choopulu' fame tried to offer a refreshing output but it didn't work. Only a couple of songs have been good. Background Score is a complete mismatch & his style of music doesn't suit this kind of films. Camera Work by Niketh is flawless. He provided a different look to elevate the visual appeal. Tamil writer David Nadhan of 'Gentleman' fame fails to impress as he serves a routine story this time. Even Dialogues & Screenplay could have been much better. Director Krishna Marimuthu shows a spark in few sequences but he disappoints big time by choosing not so promising script.
Analysis:
Makers have disclosed how 'Yuddham Sharanam' will be like with the Teaser & Trailer itself. As the storyline has been revealed prior to the release, Audience expect a novel/gripping screenplay when they step into the theaters. Unfortunately, This Naga Chaitanya-starrer offers nothing new to build the excitement of the viewer.
Screenplay Technique followed here could have been new had if the same film released several years ago. The narration of the story doesn't keep the proceedings interesting. Just because a book had a nice cover doesn't mean it's a good item to buy. Similarly, The impressive look given to the movie with splendid camera work alone can't guarantee success.
The two aspects which Audience find interesting in 'Yuddham Saranam' - Chaitu's Role as Drone Operator & Srikanth's Villainy. However, Director failed to use any of them to the fullest. In the first half, Hero saves two lives using a Drone. A single scene related to Drone was included in the Second Half as well to remind the audience about Hero's profession. Whereas, Srikanth's Role isn't as powerful as it should have been. The result could have been different had if Hero's Intelligence & Drones were used to tackle a notorious Gangster. Role of Protagonist is neither realistic nor larger than life to cater to a particular section of audience.
First Half of 'Yuddham Sharanam' is passable with good family emotions, decent love story & couple of nice songs. The Film shifts to action mode in Second Half and losses the track completely. Lack of any thrilling elements during the battle between Hero & Villain play the spoilsport. Audience get reminded of 'Saahasam Swasaga Saagipo' be it due to visuals or narration. Even the Climax wasn't handled properly. Overall, 'Yuddham Sharanam' doesn't live up to the expectations.
