Superstar Rajinikanth's latest film 'Kaala' released recently. Unlike his other films, 'Kaala' didn't have the buzz before the release. Advance bookings have severely disappointed. As the movie received mixed talk after the release, the low opening collections figures gave a shock to the trade pundits.
'Kaala' collected a share of less than Rs. 7 crores in Telugu states in the opening weekend and it shows the box office performance of the film. Usually, the opening day collections will be far more than these collections for a Rajini film. It is tough for the film to touch Rs. 10 crore share mark in the full run as per the trade estimates. It has been clear by now that 'Kaala' is a disaster in Telugu.. Hindi languages. Except for Tamil Nadu, the movie didn't impress any other language audience.
Hollywood dubbed film 'Jurassic Park: The Fallen Kingdom' released in competition to 'Kaala' and it appears to have dented the chances of Rajini film. In fact, 'Jurassic World' didn't receive hit talk.. critics panned it as routine fare. But still, the movie went on to collect Rs.55 crores in the first weekend in India. The collections are almost equal to 'Kaala' collections.
Usually, Tollywood makers also don't release their films in competition to Rajini films. The entire South will have so much hungama when Rajini film releases. His films show impact in the North belt as well. But 'Jurassic World' released in competition to 'Kaala' and achieved good collection despite negative talk.
