In yet another shock to former MP and private travel biggie JC Diwakar Reddy, the AP Transport Authority is all set to impose a fine of Rs 100 crore on his travels. Stating this joint commissioner of AP Road Transport Authority Prasada Rao said that the JC travels was operating as many as 68 BS 3 vehicles, which have been banned by the Supreme Court to protect the environment.

He said only BS 4 vehicles should be sold from April 1, 2017. However, the JC Travels had procured these BS 3 vehicles from Ashok Leylands as scrap and showed them as BS4 vehicles to get them registered in Nagaland. This is a gross violation of the transport rules. Of these, six vehicles were registered in the name of JC's close associate Chavva Gopal Reddy, one in the name of Jatadhara Industries, owned by JC, four vehicles in the name of JC Prabhakar Reddy's wife Uma Reddy. This is a complete violation of the Supreme Court's orders. Based on a complaint filed by an individual, who alleged that the JC Travels was running the BS 3 vehicles, which have been banned, the authorities have investigated and found that there were at least 68 such BS 3 vehicles masquerading as BS 4 vehicles.

Transport Joint Commissioner said that a fine of Rs 100 crore will be imposed on JC Travels and action would be initiated to ensure that there are no violations in future.
