This Is How JC Travels Duped SC, Transport Dept
X
It was a day of shame and infamy for JC Travels, owned by none other than loudmouth politician JC Diwakar Reddy. In a show of blatant misuse of his position as a former minister and an MP, JC has not just bought BS3 vehicles, which were banned by the Supreme Court, but also got them registered as BS4 quality vehicles in far-off Nagaland and was found plying them in the district. What more, he bought the banned vehicles at throwaway prices as scrap.

Now, he and the company which sold these vehicles may have to cough up at least up to Rs 100 crore towards fines. According to the investigations done by the Deputy Transport Office in Anantapur, the vehicles, which were in the banned BS3 category, could secure NOCs from Nagaland within two weeks and were plying ever since in the district. A special team was sent to Nagaland for probe. The vehicles were transferred with NOCs in such a short time that it raised suspicion and a probe was ordered. The vehicles were registered on the names of JC Uma Reddy and C Gopal Reddy, both close relatives of JC.

If the road transport authorities are to be believed, there will be stern action against those buying the banned vehicles , those who sold them. Sources say, the vehicles could be seized forthwith and those who bought the vehicles would be handed out one month imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2000. For the violation of the road safety and pollution control rules, one would be handed out up to six months imprisonment and Rs 10000 penalty. Those who sold the vehicle would have to cough up Rs 100 crore and would have to serve one year in the prison.
