Fine Imposed On Former MPs For Not Vacating The Official Buildings

In a quick turn of events, the Delhi High Court has directed the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to vacate the illegal occupants of the government accommodations living since 1998 in fifteen days.
The new development came after the High Court heard the petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Council of India organization.
The court also asked the Ministry why they did not show any interest to vacate the illegal occupants in Delhi who are 575 in number and a fine of Rs 10,000 was also imposed against the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs secretary and the same will be deducted from his salary.
Out of the former MPs who were staying illegally in government accommodations, two MPs were there. Former Mahabubnagar MP Jitender Reddy and Rajahmundry MP Murali Mohan were also asked to vacate from Delhi as they are staying there even though they had lost the elections in 2019 as MP.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 3.87 lakh and Rs 2.44 lakh to Jitender Reddy and Murali Mohan respectively for staying in official buildings in Delhi which were meant for the MPs who had won the elections.
