India Better Off On Corona As Modi Ignored WHO, Went By ICMR

Have you noticed that those governments that ignored the World Health Organisation's warnings and went ahead with the advice of their local experts are doing well in combating Corona, while those who followed the WHO diktats are facing the worst ever crises in known history? Prime Minister Modi has decided to ignore WHO alerts and go by India's premiere health control organisation, the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR).

Till now, India has followed the WHO guidelines to the T while dealing with polio, tuberculosis and others But, this time, PM Modi, who is at the helm of the affairs, decided to take ICMR's opinions quite seriously. Almost five days before the WHO suggested a ban on the flights from China, India has banned them. It had also issued a directive to all Indians not to travel to China till July end. While WHO called for testing all Indian citizens, ICMR suggested a phased testing approach. Modi went by this advice. WHO also advised the world not to wear masks, but India went ahead with promoting masks in a big way. Countries like Japan, Singapore, South Korea and others, which made masks compulsory, are better off compared to countries that did not.

India seems to be doing better than most of the other countries that have gone by WHO diktats. Modi's decision to trust our own experts over WHO, clearly, has paid rich dividends.
