Well, Baahubali-2 is a box office cyclone and it takes a lot of hype and great content to beat the weekend gross of the movie. But if you observe the trends post the mammoth hit, people who wish to watch the movies on big screen than just a pirated print have increased and this should be an advantage for biggies coming this Dussehra season.
First one to test the waters is Jr. NTR's Jai Lava Kusa. The movie is coming out on the second day of the holiday season, 21st September. From 20th, the Governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have declared holidays for schools and as the other movies did not work as expected at the box office, we have to wait and see, if the movie can take the advantage of the all factors.
It will be first movie to release with five shows in Telangana and that should help the movie as well. The pre-release business of the movie is 85 crores from theatrical rights and 110 crores including all others. So, for the movie to recover all this it needs to get a good word of mouth. And almost 80% of theatres in both Telugu states are screening the movie and over four day-weekend, as it releases on Thursday, it should not be difficult to score 100 crores gross. Let's see how much the movie will make post release. But the record for weekend gross in Telugu states should be in trouble we feel!
