Talking about the lockdown restrictions, the World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that the restrictions will not end the pandemic but kickstarts the next phase.

He made these sensational comments at the Group of 20 (G20) Health Ministers virtual meeting held at Geneva and said that its high time the nations should educate and empower their public to cope up with the rapid changes.

"We are encouraged that several G20 countries are now starting to plan how to ease social restrictions. It is critical that these measures are a phased process," Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has reminded us of a simple truth: we are one humanity. We share the same planet. We share the same hopes and dreams. We share the same destiny," he added.

The WHO chief went on to say that Saudi Arabia has pledged to be a part of the fight against the pandemic and lauded the donations of $500 million by the nations and its support towards the global efforts of fighting against the dreaded virus.
